Ordering Timings

 

We require two full working days minimum notice for all orders so we can bake fresh, assemble, and make your cake look and taste its best. 

Orders placed between 12am and 11.59pm on any day will be ready to pick up from 9am three days after placing your order.  

Eg: order any time Monday, have three sleeps, collect your cake on Thursday.

How to care for your Cake

Once your cake changes hands from us to you, you are responsible for its care and welfare. This is a big responsibility, so we've compiled some helpful hints for you to get your cake home and to the table safely.  

Your cake will be packaged in our Picnic gift box on a silver cake board. Ideally you will have a flat surface in your vehicle to carefully place your cake on, like the floor or boot. If your cake is one of our larger sizes, you may want to bring a supervisor to watch over your cake during the ride home for peace of mind.  

Your cake will come straight from our refrigerator, and preferably go straight into yours. Our cakes taste best at room temperature, so if you’re consuming immediately, you may skip this step. Remove your cake from the fridge one to two hours before serving, depending on the ambient temperature. Cakes hate heat, so once out of the fridge, keep your cake out of the sun and in the coolest dry area you can find.  

If you aren't eating your cake until the next day, or you haven't managed to eat it all in one sitting, we recommend storing in the refrigerator. If for some unfortunate reason you are not able to consume your cake for more than 24 hours after pick up, wrap the entire box well with Gladwrap and refrigerate.  

Generally your cake will keep for three to four days but for optimum enjoyment we always recommend consumption within 48 hours.    

 

Allergy & Intolerances

To our friends with allergies and intolerances... 

Please note that although we take great care to avoid cross contamination when working with allergens such as dairy, eggs, nuts, and gluten, there is always the risk of contamination in a kitchen that uses these products.  

Even if your chosen item is naturally free of your allergen, please let us know about your dietary requirements when you order.  

If you have any dietary requirements outside of the big four (gluten, nuts, dairy, eggs) please call us on 06 651 0194 to confirm your desired item or product is appropriate for your needs.  

As our kitchen is also a commercial bread baking facility, our products are unsuitable for coeliacs. As many of our cakes contain nuts, our products are also unsuitable for those with severe nut allergies.  

By placing an order with us via this website, you accept and acknowledge the risk of cross contamination in any and all items included in your order.  

 

FAQs

What does the measurement of the cake refer to? 

In the case of a round cake or tart, the centimeter measurement is the diameter of the cake (from one side to the other).  For loaves, the measurements refer to the length and width.  

 

I need a cake NOW. Help?

Can I order a cake via Facebook or Instagram? 

All enquiries via our social media channels will be referred to the online or physical shop depending on the urgency and complexity of your request. If you need a question answered, the quickest option is to call us directly.

 

What exactly does “feeds this many” mean? 

This is our guideline for how many slices you can expect to get out of a cake. You are the best judge of how hungry your guests are.  

 

Do you deliver? 

Unfortunately we are unable to offer delivery at this time.  

 

Where and how do I pick up? 

Pick up is from our bakery at 17a Mahia Street Ahuriri. We are in the small food store hub next to Vetro. There is a car park with lots of space during the week but please note weekends can get a little busy. We are open from 9am daily. Your cake will be ready no earlier or later than this, three sleeps after placing your order. We are open until 4pm Monday – Saturday and until 3.30pm Sunday.  

 

How long will my cake keep for? Do I need to put it in the fridge?

Can you write a message on my cake?  

We do not write on cakes, however if you have a special message you would like to send alongside your cake, consider adding a Father Rabbit gift card to your order so your recipient can look back on your note long after their cake has been consumed.

 

Can we order a cake to consume at one of your other sites?
